Eleven Months of Jackson Nicholas

I can't even believe it, but Jack is eleven months old today! It really feels like the last half of his first year has just flown. In June we'll have a one year old!

Jackson likes:

  • MOVING!
  • Bath time
  • His big brother - he absolutely idolizes Sammy!
  • Reading books
  • Being held

Jackson dislikes:

  • Basically the one thing that makes Jackson upset is when we're holding him and place him down. Haha. He will arch his back in an attempt to continue being held.
Eating:
  • We continue to work to build Jack's "safe food" list, which can be a scary process for all of us. We have to test single ingredient foods one at a time, over the course of a few days before it can be counted as "safe." At this point, the only known FPIES trigger foods Jack has are oats and rice, and we're hoping that's all he will ever have reactions to.
  • He loves his milky still. 😊
Activities:
  • Jack gets more and more mobile each day. He is pulling himself up but isn't cruising along furniture quite yet. He can climb stairs and is quick!
  • Jack can say "mama," "dada," and "baba" (brother). He can sign "dog" while saying "dog dog" and can sign "ball" when he says "ball." Lately he'll say "NO NO NO" when we're doing something he doesn't particularly enjoy, like a diaper change. 😉 He also says "nom nom" when he is eating his food.
  • Jack thinks that Sammy has hung the moon, and loves to play with him. Sammy is able to get the biggest giggles out of him!
  • He is VERY good at blowing raspberries, and likes to show us all day long.
Everyone who meets him often says, "he is just such a happy boy!" and it is so true. Our little guy was dealt quite the hand with his difficult FPIES diagnosis, but right now it hasn't seemed to influence his temperament. We can't hardly wait for summer to be here. I think it's going to be a fun one!

Here are some favorite pictures from this last month:

Friday Favorites [7-3-2026]

It's Friday, and it's the 4th of July Eve! Sounds pretty good to me. 😉 I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  I'm dipping my toe back into blog world because, well, I am missing documenting my kids' childhoods. It brings me such joy to go back and read through memories from years before documented in old posts, so I'm determined to hang out here a bit more consistently to share life.  This summer, I've got a seven (7?!) year old and a new 3 year old. Someone the other day was talking about what a difference a year makes from summer to summer and it is so true. For example, this year Jack and Sammy love to go play together. Last year, both boys required constant supervision. Last year Jack hated going to the pool, and this year he is a little fish! This is a BIG favorite for me! Last weekend Sammy participated in a "Run Hit Pitch" competition and won first place for hitting in his age division. He was so ...

Sammy is SEVEN!

Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...
