One Month of Jackson
It's hard to believe that one month ago we welcomed our sweet Jackson Nicholas to the world. Newborns change so much in that first month!
How did we get to this...
From this?!
Here are some updates about our Jackson boy, and what's new.
Jackson likes:
- Watching brother and daddy
- Sleeping on mama's chest
- Milky :)
- Bath time
Jackson dislikes:
- Getting out of the bath
- Gas bubbles
- Being a minute late to a feeding
Eating
Jackson is a really great eater! He nurses really well and right on schedule. We haven't introduced a bottle yet, but that's on the to-do list for the month of July.
Sleeping
In my opinion, sleep deprivation is the hardest part of newborn life. Thankfully this has not been a struggle with Jackson! Jack cluster feeds from about 7-9PM, and wakes around 1-2AM to nurse. After a quick diaper change he goes straight back to sleep and wakes up around 4AM to nurse again. After another diaper he sleeps until 6:30-7:30AM. Sammy was up at least every 2 hours for months, so this experience truly feels luxurious in comparison.
Now, what I've learned about having two children is that when one is awake - the other is asleep. It never fails on days that Jack sleeps later, Sammy is up earlier, and vice versa. The silver lining is that this allows me a bit more 1:1 time with whoever my early bird of the day is. :)
At night Jack sleeps in his bassinet in our bedroom, and during the day the location of his sleep varies. We've been trying to have him take one nap a day in his crib and he does great with that!
Activities
Jackson is a really content little one and likes to just come along for the ride. I've been wearing him in my baby wrap a lot, and he's right there next to me wherever we go. He's been on lots of walks (while Sammy rides his scooter) and hangs out in the wrap while I cook dinner. He really enjoys tummy time and wiggling around on his play mat. Jack is always looking at Sammy and follows him around intently. It's been sweet to watch!
We're trying really hard to soak in the newborn noises, scrunches and smells (well...the good ones) over here. It's bliss!
