Seven Months of Jackson Nicholas

Happy New Year!

Our baby Jack is celebrating his seven-month birthday today, and I find it so hard to believe that he is that old. I get a little sad thinking that he is halfway through his first year, but I know that tremendous fun and growth is in the future in his next stages of development.

Here's what is new with our littlest boy.

Jackson likes:

  • He continues to be our happy, happy boy. He really loves his family and is just happy doing whatever as long as he's with his people.
  • He loves to watch Sammy do ANYTHING. Jack thinks big brother is pretty cool. 😉
  • Jack loves to scoot around on his playmat. He has gotten very good at pushing himself or rolling himself where he needs to be.
  • MILKY. The boy loves his milky.
Jackson dislikes:
  • At the moment, solid food. We've been practicing solid foods each day and he just really doesn't have much interest in them.
  • Taking bottles for Daddy (sorry, Dustin!)
Eating:
  • Baby Jack has tried several fruit/vegetable purees, but he is not a fan. He has had better luck with teething rusks and wafers.
  • He continues to be a really great little nurser.
Sleeping:
  • It took several weeks for Jack to get back on track with his nighttime sleep following all of the illnesses our family had. Things are heading in a better direction now!
  • He takes really wonderful, long naps during the day. We are lucky!
Activities:
  • He loves being held where the action is.
  • Jack loves to give slobbery kisses, complete with sound effects. He'll press his open mouth to your cheek and go "awwwww."
  • He loves bath time with brother!
  • Jack can scoot his legs up underneath him and inch forward - kind of like an inch worm. He "crawls" this way, or rolls to get where he wants to be.
  • He is getting more confident in his sitting!
  • Jack LOVED Christmas...well, mostly he loved the Christmas wrapping paper. He held it in his hands and crinkled it up.
  • This month he got his first 2 teeth! I feel like most children are cranky while they are getting teeth, but we didn't even know Jack had gotten teeth until he bit down on my finger while we were playing. Such a happy boy!
That's all for this month! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the month of December:

This picture is going to make me laugh for a long time. Jack was giving Dustin a difficult time about taking a bottle, so Dustin came over to my school so I could nurse him quickly (rather than pump) over my specials time. I laughed and told Dustin I felt like "uber eats."

...a sweet photo to end on. My dad made this toy box for Jack, and it matches the one in Sammy's room. Such a treasure!

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
