Two Months of Jackson Nicholas

Two Months of Jackson

It's been two months since we've welcomed our sweet boy to our family! He has added the sweetest personality to our family and I can't imagine life without him. Here's some updates about our sweet boy!

Jackson likes:

  • Tummy Time
  • Kicking his legs to hit his bell on his playmat, or knocking down Sammy's towers with his kicks
  • Drinking milky
  • Bath time

Jackson dislikes:

  • Extended car rides
  • Gas bubbles

Eating:

Jackson continues to be a really great eater, which I am so thankful for! This month he tried a few bottles of breastmilk, and thankfully he took them without problem. Dustin tried giving Jack his first bottle and at first Jack looked very offended - like, "what is this in my mouth?!" After a few more tries he got it figured out. :)

Sleeping:

I *think* we may be on the brink of Jackson sleeping through the night and I honestly don't know how I got so lucky. :) He goes down for the night around 9:30, and has been waking up between 3/4 to eat. On days he sleeps until 4 I typically feed him, and then start my day. Unfortunately my brain has a hard time turning off at that point and I can't stop thinking of all the things I could be accomplishing with the quiet house. He goes back to sleep after being fed and typically sleeps until his loud brother comes to wake him up. :)

Activities:

This month was a big one for our Jackson boy! He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on July 30th. We had so many family members with us to witness his baptism, and had a great weekend of family time. His Godparents are my brother Keith, and sisters, Sadie and Karley.

At the baptism, our priest Fr. Marty spoke to the importance of us teaching Jackson to love and love well. Being a parent is such a responsibility and I think we get caught up into things that matter, but that don't matter in the scheme of things. He said that when we get to heaven, Jesus isn't going to care what our GPA was, or what sport team we cheered for. He is going to ask us if we loved other people. This was renewing to hear, and I felt so encouraged by this. It's like life is truly that simple: we just need to love other people.

Jackson has made a few trips to the library, park, and Des Moines as well. He really loves to play on his playmat with Sammy playing next to him. He follows Sammy around the room with his eyes, and I can't help but thinking how crazy our house will be next summer with two little boys running around. :) He's is starting to roll over as well. At first I truly thought it was a fluke, but then he did it two more times so it seems pretty intentional. We're getting lots of coos and social smiles which are absolutely my favorite!

Look at that smile! Just like his brother and daddy's smile.

He may have gotten Dustin's smile, but he got mama's blue eyes. :)

I still have just under 7 (yay!) weeks remaining of maternity leave. I was a bit worried about having a baby over the summer months. I anticipated that it really wouldn't "feel" like summer, and that I wouldn't get to participate in normal summer activities with my family. While summer has certainly looked lots different I have still enjoyed time at the pool, reading books, and not packing lunches. I'm so glad to squeeze a bit more out of summertime with my boys!

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one ๐Ÿ˜‰] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. ๐Ÿ˜Š I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. ๐Ÿ˜‰ He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
