Five Months of Jackson Nicholas

It's been a big month for our baby Jack! He's been with us for five whole months, and it seems like each day he is growing and changing. Here's a little update about Jack:

Likes:

  • LOVES bath time with Sammy. Sammy calls it a "brother bath," and they both giggle the whole time.
  • He really likes to chew on things! He isn't getting teeth, but you would think he is judging by how he gnaws and drools on his toys.
  • Jack loves his milky. Eating is very serious business around here. 😉

Dislikes:

  • We've seen an improvement with Jack and riding in the car - thank goodness! Our sweet boy is generally really content. He gets a little nervous around people who aren't his immediate caregivers, but is reassured if mama or daddy are close by.

Eating:

  • Nothing new to report here! Jack is a great nurser, and takes bottles while at childcare. He is showing interest in food but we haven't started any solid foods with him yet.

Sleeping:

  • I *think* we avoided the dreaded four month sleep regression. We had a period of about two weeks where he was waking frequently during the night. We moved him out of his bassinet and into a pack-and-play in our room, and those night wakings went away. I think he just needed more room to spread out.
  • Jack takes about 3 naps a day, depending on timing and length. It's been so wonderful that he's on a consistent schedule!

Activities:

  • Jack is really our content, go-with-the-flow baby. He is happy to be wherever his people are. 😊
  • He really, really loves his brother and gives him huge smiles and laughs when they are playing together.
  • Jack loves to play "Patty Cake" and sing songs. He will sit on my lap when I am reading to Sammy and really studies the pictures of the book we're reading.
  • Jack gives the best, most slobbery kisses, and is starting to reach to mommy and daddy to be held.
Here are some favorite pictures from the last month:

Friday Favorites [9-6-2024]

I'm always happy to see Friday, but especially when the weather calls for... this gloriousness this weekend, I.Can't.Wait.!  I'm linking up with Andrea  and Erika  to share some favorites from our busy, short week!  These brothers get so excited to see each other everyday after school, it melts me! They were together at childcare last year, so it makes me think that they have to be missing each other this year.  Brother time is always a favorite of mine. 😊 The chicken street taco kit from Costco is a favorite as well! This time of year it's important to get dinner on the table quickly and I love that this kit involves minimal clean-up.  This little boy is determined to start walking. He's getting braver and braver by the day!  There's a new flag football player in town. 😉 Sammy started flag football this week and I can't wait to watch him in action this fall! This is his "tough face." Haha.  Sammy's lunches have been a favorite for sure....

Friday Favorites [8-9-2024]

It's Friday! I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from my week.  I don't even know HOW it happened, but this is my last official week of summer. Can you hear me crying from wherever you are? 😅 June passed slowly, but July and August flew. I know that I will blink and the upcoming week will be over.  We've just been over here trying to soak in all  that's left of summer. 😉 On August 6th, Dustin and I celebrated 8 years of marriage! We celebrated with our first date night in an entire calendar year.  With Jack's allergies and Dustin's crazy work schedule, we find it so hard to get out just the two of us. It's a goal of ours to make it a priority this year!  Sammy's Kindergarten backpack, lunchbox and thermos came and he couldn't have been more excited. We loaded up all of his supplies and he is ready. Me on the other hand? I need someone to come over here and hold me. Haha.  Smiley boys at the park are ...

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...
