One Year of Jackson Nicholas

One year ago, in the early morning hours, our little boy Jack decided to make his arrival (three weeks early!) to the world. Since then, our house has been filled with even more love and laughter than before. Here's an update of Jackson Nicholas, now that he's officially one year old.

Jackson likes:

  • He is my little "hip baby" and is his happiest when he's being held by mama. I've learned to complete a lot of tasks one handed.
  • Jack absolutely loves his brother, and is working so hard to keep up with him. Sammy and Jack belly laughing together is one of my favorite sounds in the world.
  • Jack loves to be outside! He loves to blow bubbles and swing.

Jackson dislikes:

  • Truly, not much makes him sad. The only thing that might make him upset is if I have to put him down when he'd rather be held.

Eating:

  • We officially made it to a year of nursing, and I'm very proud of that milestone. Jack is a great little nurser and takes his milky very seriously. 😉
  • Jack is up to 19 safe foods which is so exciting! We recently had to trial cow's milk to see if he would have an FPIES reaction, but it is a safe food for him. Having cow's milk on his "safe food" list has opened up a lot of doors, like animal crackers, waffles, and graham crackers. This is very exciting for our entire family. 😊

Activities:

  • Jack is pulling himself up on anything that will hold still long enough, and he's beginning to cruise along furniture. He will let go of what he's holding with one hand, and try to reach to get things along the floor. He's not walking yet, but he'll get there in time. 😊
  • Jack says "mama," "dada," "bubba" (brother, for Sammy), "dog dog," and "nah nah" (for no), and  "nom nom." He's starting to use sign language, which we love! So far he can sign "dog" and "more."

I remember when I first heard Jack's cries, I turned my head towards Dustin and said "I love him so much!" It is amazing how you can instantly feel so much love for your children. Jack is determined, snuggly, and happy. He loves to be with his family, and makes us laugh with his antics daily. Jack has added a tremendous amount of joy to our family, and we just can't imagine life without our happy boy.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of him from the past month:

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
