Friday Favorites [8-2-2024]

It's Friday! Our day has two things on the docket today: swimming at the pool and pizza night. It's going to be a great day! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some favorites from my week.

Dustin and I completed a much needed organizational overhaul in our basement and as a result, we've been spending so much more time down there! When we finished our basement several years ago, we did it with the plan that the space would primarily serve as a playroom for the boys. They are starting to "play" together and it is so sweet to watch!

One morning this week Sammy wasn't quite ready to start playing but brother was. 😉 I'm afraid he's going to miss our slow mornings most of all when he starts kindergarten!

We have a dachshund and she is *very* talented at finding the smallest patch of sunshine and soaking up some rays. I caught her on top of the couch while I was heading upstairs to do some laundry and her face made me laugh!

Avocado toast on fresh sourdough is one of my very favorite foods for breakfast. On Monday morning I cut open my avocado and it looked like this...

...so I knew it was going to be a good week. 😉

I made my FAVORITE chicken salad to enjoy for lunches this week. It's so good! I'll have to share the recipe next week. I love to have something like this prepped in the fridge so lunches can be quickly assembled.

One last favorite from the week. It was my dad's birthday last Friday, and I found this old picture in my baby book. I think I'm going to need to get it framed! He's holding me, and the little boy is my big brother Nick. So sweet!

That's it for today! I hope that you have the best weekend. XX

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
