What's Up Wednesday [July 2024]

And just like that, it's the very last day in July! Truly, this month has absolutely flown. This month I'm linking up with Sheaffer and Shay to share a bit about what's up in my life right now.

What we're eating this week...

This week is known as "birthday week" in my extended family, so at this point, it feels like all we're eating is birthday cake. πŸ˜‚ Within the span of 7 days, we have 5 birthdays. My dad, my brother, my sister-in-law, my sister, and my father-in-law all celebrate birthdays this week so we've been doing all the celebrating! My sister requested a strawberry "shortcake" cake for her birthday, so I was tasked with making one. Yum!

What I'm reminiscing about...

Now that it's just about August, I'm starting to plan Sammy's "Back to School Brinner," which has me reminiscing about last year's brinner.

I'm so excited to do this tradition again this year! Sammy still remembers this special celebration and has been asking if it will be happening again. It's such a great way to build excitement and celebrate the first day of school. I wish I could re-do his last year of preschool all over again. I'm not quite ready for Kindergarten!

What I'm loving...

I have just really been enjoying slow mornings at home with the boys. After breakfast, we typically head to our basement playroom and the boys play together and I sip my coffee, and it's just a really wonderful way to start the day. I'm going to miss it in a few weeks!

What we've been up to...

July was a busy month for our family! Sammy participated in 2, week long camps that he absolutely loved.

While Sammy was at camp, I was able to spend some special 1:1 time with Jack! As a mom of two, I appreciate any time I can spend 1:1 time with my babies. On this day, Dustin and I took him to the zoo for a visit.

We've enjoyed lots of movies and s'mores outside using our projector. It's become one of our favorite things to do!

What I'm dreading...

Ugh. Can any other teachers relate? I'm not dreading going back to work, but I am not looking forward to giving up my quiet mornings. Rushing around in the morning is my least favorite part of the school year!

What I'm reading...

I just finished this book and loved it. It follows the story of a friendship, and had lots of twists and turns that I truly wasn't expecting. It's a book that I kept thinking about after reading it!

What I'm watching...

Anyone else?! I don't typically get into watching the Olympics, but I do enjoy watching women's gymnastics. It's amazing what they can do!

What I'm listening to...

At this moment, the feedback of the baby monitor and that's it. Amen. πŸ˜…

What I'm wearing...

I've been living in athletic wear this summer, especially athletic dresses. They're perfect for hot summer days!

What I'm looking forward to next month...

On August 6th Dustin and I will celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. Look at those babies! We'll celebrate our anniversary with a date night, which I am so excited for. Our last date night was...last year on August 6th. To say that we are overdue for an uninterrupted dinner is an understatement. Haha!

I'm pretty proud of our eight years of marriage. 😊

That's it for this month! Have a happy Wednesday. XX

Friday Favorites [3-1-2024]

It's Friday and I'm here sharing my favorites from the week. As usual, I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika . Here we go!  My very first favorite is that Jack is 9 months old today! I can't believe he's been "out" for as long as I was pregnant with him. 😊 He is the happiest little baby, and we just can't imagine life without him. I shared a little monthly update on the blog today as well.  Another favorite is that Sammy lost his second tooth over the weekend. He pulled it out himself! I told him that pretty soon he won't have any teeth left. πŸ˜‰ An easy sheet meal dinner was perfect for our Wednesday night. I took some italian chicken sausage, sweet potato gnocchi, and green beans, plus a little olive oil and seasonings and roasted it up for about 20 minutes. Sammy loves chicken sausages, so a fuss-free dinner is always a win in my book.  We put out some St. Patrick's Day books over the weekend and have been enjoying reading them. I keep a

Hello, Friday. It's always nice to see you. πŸ˜‰ I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from my week. Here we go!  My first favorites are these sweet Easter pictures. We had a fun weekend celebrating! I love any reason for my little boys to get dressed up and get a cute picture. πŸ˜‰ Another favorite on April 1st was celebrating Jack's 10 month birthday! I can't believe in two months he will be one. I loved this picture showing off his top two teeth.  3 years ago, my family was at one of our favorite places...Disney World! We went to Florida over Easter in 2021 with my extended family and it was a fun little trip. This trip was rescheduled from March of 2020, and I love seeing all of the memories from our trip. Sammy looks SO LITTLE.  In this picture we were riding Dumbo. I remember that Sammy got off the ride and promptly asked to go again. Haha.  We made my  Easy Weeknight Tostadas  on Tuesday of this week and they were a hit! We loved this eas

Friday Favorites [5-3-2024]

Yay! It's Friday and it's the month of MAY! Both of those things are very good things in my book. Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  On Monday I shared that we had a busy weekend! My mom and I hosted a Bridal Shower for my sweet cousin Caitlin, and then our new niece and nephew were baptized on Sunday. It was a fun (but tiring) way to spend the weekend!  Jack especially loved all of the family time, and was happy to sneak in some giggles with Great Grandma before the shower began. πŸ˜‰ We whipped up these  Burrito Bowls  for dinner one night this week, and it was a new favorite. It was such an easy meal that Dustin and I both loved!  It's May, which means that it's time for me to read "Charlotte's Web" to my class. I read it every year during the month of May! This book has seen much better years - I think it's time for a new copy. Haha.  The boys and I love to play in the basement, where most of
