What's Up Wednesday [July 2024]

And just like that, it's the very last day in July! Truly, this month has absolutely flown. This month I'm linking up with Sheaffer and Shay to share a bit about what's up in my life right now.

What we're eating this week...

This week is known as "birthday week" in my extended family, so at this point, it feels like all we're eating is birthday cake. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Within the span of 7 days, we have 5 birthdays. My dad, my brother, my sister-in-law, my sister, and my father-in-law all celebrate birthdays this week so we've been doing all the celebrating! My sister requested a strawberry "shortcake" cake for her birthday, so I was tasked with making one. Yum!

What I'm reminiscing about...

Now that it's just about August, I'm starting to plan Sammy's "Back to School Brinner," which has me reminiscing about last year's brinner.

I'm so excited to do this tradition again this year! Sammy still remembers this special celebration and has been asking if it will be happening again. It's such a great way to build excitement and celebrate the first day of school. I wish I could re-do his last year of preschool all over again. I'm not quite ready for Kindergarten!

What I'm loving...

I have just really been enjoying slow mornings at home with the boys. After breakfast, we typically head to our basement playroom and the boys play together and I sip my coffee, and it's just a really wonderful way to start the day. I'm going to miss it in a few weeks!

What we've been up to...

July was a busy month for our family! Sammy participated in 2, week long camps that he absolutely loved.

While Sammy was at camp, I was able to spend some special 1:1 time with Jack! As a mom of two, I appreciate any time I can spend 1:1 time with my babies. On this day, Dustin and I took him to the zoo for a visit.

We've enjoyed lots of movies and s'mores outside using our projector. It's become one of our favorite things to do!

What I'm dreading...

Ugh. Can any other teachers relate? I'm not dreading going back to work, but I am not looking forward to giving up my quiet mornings. Rushing around in the morning is my least favorite part of the school year!

What I'm reading...

I just finished this book and loved it. It follows the story of a friendship, and had lots of twists and turns that I truly wasn't expecting. It's a book that I kept thinking about after reading it!

What I'm watching...

Anyone else?! I don't typically get into watching the Olympics, but I do enjoy watching women's gymnastics. It's amazing what they can do!

What I'm listening to...

At this moment, the feedback of the baby monitor and that's it. Amen. ๐Ÿ˜…

What I'm wearing...

I've been living in athletic wear this summer, especially athletic dresses. They're perfect for hot summer days!

What I'm looking forward to next month...

On August 6th Dustin and I will celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. Look at those babies! We'll celebrate our anniversary with a date night, which I am so excited for. Our last date night was...last year on August 6th. To say that we are overdue for an uninterrupted dinner is an understatement. Haha!

I'm pretty proud of our eight years of marriage. ๐Ÿ˜Š

That's it for this month! Have a happy Wednesday. XX

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. ๐Ÿ˜‰ He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!

Sammy is SEVEN!

Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

What's Up Wednesday [September 2024]

And just like that...it's the last week of the month! Time for What's Up Wednesday with  Sheaffer  and  Shay .  What We're Eating this Week... Fall weather is officially upon us, so I'm craving warm, comforting meals. This week's menu is... Sunday - Meatloaf and green beans Monday - Chicken Pot Pie with a green salad Tuesday - "Smash Burger" tacos  Wednesday - BBQ Chicken bowls Thursday - Spaghetti  Friday - we're grilling up the Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar Chicken sausages...so good!  My boys have been eating a lot of pumpkin muffins this week. I had to make a second batch this evening because Sammy ate 5 (5!) in one day.  We're basically eating pumpkin in whatever we can these days, which is why I made these pumpkin sourdough discard bagels. A warm bagel + pumpkin cream cheese from Trader Joe's = a little slice of heaven. ๐Ÿ˜Š What I'm reminiscing about... As always...this time last year. Look how small and squishy Baby Jack was!  T...
