Daily Habits...

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. Today I'm sharing some of my daily habits that I've been trying really hard to be consistent with. By no means am I perfect at them, but I notice that I am a happier and more productive human when I am consistently doing these habits. I enjoy reading these types of posts on other lifestyle blogs, so I thought maybe you would enjoy reading this as well. 😉

In no particular order...

#1 - Move my body

This summer I have been slacking on my Peloton workouts. During the school year I am so consistent with getting out of bed early for some cardio and strength training! During the summer...I like to sleep in. 😉 Regardless of the time of year, I try really hard to move my body in some way each day. Right now, we've been taking lots of walks as a family, and I love this form of exercise! Dustin and I have some of our best chats while we walk together. It's a good reminder for me that walking is still a valuable exercise.

#2 - Spend intentional time with my boys

I can very easily find myself mindlessly scrolling throughout the day and not being fully present with the boys. I like to turn my phone on "do not disturb" and place it on the countertop so I'm not tempted to grab it and scroll. I know our time together this summer is fleeting, so I like to have moments where I just really sit in being with them. When I'm missing them during the school year, I'll think back on those moments in gratitude, knowing that I was present and enjoying my time with them.

#3 - Try to eat wholesome food

Working with Jack's allergies has been incredibly eye opening to the amount of *junk* found in food we eat. This summer I've noticed a shift in the food I prepare for my family. For example, rather than buy a package of taco seasoning (read the back, some of the ingredients can be scary!) I'll add some spices to whatever meat we're using. Lots of little shifts like this are happening in my cooking, and I feel good knowing it's having an impact on my family's health.

#4 - Read

I love to read! I typically always have a book going on my Kindle, and try to read during my downtime.

#5 - Put the house to bed

I love to wake up to a clean house each day, knowing that everything is neatly tucked away and ready for another day. Each night we put the toys away, arrange the pillows/blankets, wipe off the countertop, empty the sink of any dishes and run the dishwasher. I have a much more cheerful disposition in the morning if I wake up to a tidy home, rather than a disheveled one. 😉

That's it for today! I'd love to hear what some of your daily habits are. XX

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
