August Goals

Hello, August.

I don't know about you, but the start of August almost feels more like starting a new year over January 1st. Anyone relate?

I'm feeling super motivated to become my most organized self prior to starting back to school in a few weeks, and so I'm sharing a few things I'm holding as goals for myself in this month.

1. Make a few freezer meals to pop in the deep freeze to make life a little bit easier as I go back to work. On the docket are...lasagna, tater tot casserole, ham balls, breakfast burritos and sausage balls.

2. Read a book. I often fall off the reading wagon when I go back to work because I'm just too darn tired at night. I'm hoping to reach for my Kindle instead of my phone at night to wind down.

3. Host "Back to School Brinner" for Sammy. We did this last year and it was so fun! We'll do this special meal the night before his first day of Kindergarten. And then, I'll probably cry. 😉

4. Organize our guest room. This room becomes our "dumping ground" and it's the last area of my house that needs organized on my summer to-do list.

5. Get back into an early morning workout routine. I'm going to allow myself to sleep in (as much as I can with my resident alarm clocks, haha) for the next week, and then I'm going to start setting an alarm again. I feel so much better when I start my day with an early morning workout.

Have the best first day of August. XX

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...
