Friday Favorites 1-12-2024

It's Friday! My days are all jumbled this week due to an abundance (3!) of snow days. We've had so much snow this week!

I'm linking up with Erika and Andrea to share some Friday Favorites.

First up...

I've thoroughly enjoyed my days at home with the boys this week. Dustin's off days happened to be Tuesday-Friday, so we were home together for 3 days. We loved all of the family time!

Sammy got a few chances to play in the snow.

And Jack got plenty of chances for lots of snuggles.

Cozy time at home with my favorite people is ALWAYS a favorite thing of mine.

Cold, winter days mean that soup must be on the menu. This week we enjoyed my Crockpot Hamburger soup along with a side of beer bread and veggies.

I also got a chance to read this book this week! I follow Taylor on social media, and think she's hilarious. Her writing has really great voice...I could practically hear her saying what she was writing. This was the third book I've read so far this year.

Does anyone else struggle with eczema this time of year? Both of my boys struggle with dry, scratchy skin this time of year. I've tried several lotions on the hunt for a cure, and we've had awesome luck with this one. It's nice and thick, but absorbs really well. It's a good find!

Baby Jack has had a rough start with solid foods, but this week we've experienced some success. We've discovered that he hates pureed food, so baby food has been a no-go. I made all of Sammy's baby food, so I was a little disappointed to not be blending up fun mixes of purees for him to eat. Instead, he uses this spoon to feed himself. I use the spoon to scrape up some form of solid food - so far we've done avocado and banana - and he feeds himself. It's been going well so far...look at that proud face!

Lastly...I got this snack mix from Trader Joe's on my last visit. It's got some spice, but it's not SO spicy that I can't handle the heat. A little bit of this + a Limoncello LaCroix is my favorite after school snack.

That's all for today! I'm off to enjoy my snow days with the boys. Have a wonderful weekend! XX

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
