Friday Favorites 11-17-2023


How in the world is Thanksgiving next week?! November is absolutely flying by. I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some favorites from the week!


One of my very FAVORITE things in the world happened this weekend. Dustin got off work, stopped at Starbucks and I got a festive morning delivery. It's the best start to my day! 


I made a few chicken pot pies over the weekend and stuck one in the freezer. It's always such a good feeling knowing that a homemade meal is prepped and ready to go! You can't beat comfort food this time of year.

Speaking of comfort food, have you ever tried a ham ball? We had some for dinner on Sunday with cheesy potatoes. They're a staple meal in Iowa! I shared my recipe here. Notice my Christmas plate being all festive underneath. 😉


Last weekend was glorious - we had two days with very few plans. It was so nice to be cozy at home! I put Sammy's Christmas sheets on his bed, and he couldn't have been more excited to climb into bed on Saturday night. 


Sammy is absolutely our early-riser (like me) and Jack is more of our late sleeper (like Dustin). Isn't it funny how that works out?! Sammy is always so excited to get Jack out of bed in the morning. Sweet brother hugs are a favorite of mine. 😊


Jack had his first tastes of solid food this week! He tried oatmeal and has been pretty indifferent to it. We tried avocado on Thursday and he was a little more interested...a little more made it into his mouth. 😉


Jack has absolutely found his feet this week. He has been trying to grab them every chance he gets! 


Christmas shopping is in full force around here. Poor Dustin opens the door to a package or two almost every single day. 😂 Earlier this week I shared Stocking Stuffer Ideas for babies 0-12 months. I'd love to know if you'd add anything to this list!

    I love having prepared meals all ready to go in the freezer; it is such a good feeling. Your boys are adorable. All 3 of mine were early risers but now that they're teens no one gets up early unless they have to.

      I'm looking forward to the days we can sleep in a bit more at our house! Although I'm certain I'll miss that quiet time with the boys in the morning. :)

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!

Sammy is SEVEN!

  Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

What's Up Wednesday [September 2024]

And just like that...it's the last week of the month! Time for What's Up Wednesday with  Sheaffer  and  Shay .  What We're Eating this Week... Fall weather is officially upon us, so I'm craving warm, comforting meals. This week's menu is... Sunday - Meatloaf and green beans Monday - Chicken Pot Pie with a green salad Tuesday - "Smash Burger" tacos  Wednesday - BBQ Chicken bowls Thursday - Spaghetti  Friday - we're grilling up the Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar Chicken sausages...so good!  My boys have been eating a lot of pumpkin muffins this week. I had to make a second batch this evening because Sammy ate 5 (5!) in one day.  We're basically eating pumpkin in whatever we can these days, which is why I made these pumpkin sourdough discard bagels. A warm bagel + pumpkin cream cheese from Trader Joe's = a little slice of heaven. 😊 What I'm reminiscing about... As always...this time last year. Look how small and squishy Baby Jack was!  T...
