Friday Favorites 10-13-2023

Whew! I feel like I am absolutely crawling to the finish line today. It's been rainy in Iowa this week (which means inside recess for my first grade students), and it's been a busy week of lots of after school "things." I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favorites. 😊

My Aunt Becky was in town visiting last weekend and we really enjoyed our time together! She wanted to get Sammy a new pair of shoes for his birthday and he picked out these Nike shoes. Aunt Becky snuck in a matching pair for Baby Jack. You know I love a matching moment. THE CUTEST!

Speaking of Sammy, he is going to turn FIVE this week! Here' a little flashback of Baby Sammy. I cannot wait to celebrate this sweet boy. He had a difficult time deciding on a theme (Hot Wheels) and the menu (right now, spaghetti 😂) for his family birthday party, but I think we've finally settled on both. His four year old year has been a year of tremendous growth for him. I can't believe we'll have a five year old!

Last weekend the weather turned in Iowa and it feels like fall. We had a bonfire in "Papa's Woods" and ate way too many s'mores to count. So much fun!

A turn in the weather meant that it was time to pull out the jackets and coats. This hat was a hand-me-down from Sammy and I could hardly wait to put it on him. I could just eat him up!

Here is baby Sammy in the same hat. You could say these two boys are related. 😉

We picked up a "Spooky Halloween" house kit from Trader Joe's and Sammy was so excited to assemble it! I think he probably ate half the jelly beans during the construction phase.

I made my sausage/potato/kale soup this week and loved eating the leftovers throughout the week. Soup weather is a favorite of mine!

That's all for this week! This weekend we have a neighborhood party, church, and the normal weekend "chores" to do. I'm anticipating this being a big part of my weekend. 😉 See you back here on Monday!

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
