Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉
We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.
Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!
This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a surfing dance with the characters when their special song plays over the loudspeaker.
Jack was BESIDE himself. He was so excited to meet the characters, but mostly Daisy and Minnie. Minnie took extra time with him, and got low to his level. He was brave enough to give her a hug, kiss her nose, and blow her kisses.
Sammy has been loving the characters and his autograph book this trip! He got signatures from all of the friends, and when Goofy came to the table Sammy said, "hey I know, why don't you sneak up on Donald?" Goofy snuck up on Donald and Sammy thought it was pretty much the funniest thing in the world.
The meal here was standard breakfast fare - eggs, carving station, breakfast meats, pancakes/waffles, rolls - all sorts of things. The allergy chef prepared Jack fruit, bacon, and croissants. We were super bummed to learn that the Mickey waffles have rice in them. Thankfully he was happy with his meal. 😊
We went back to our resort and got changed into our swim gear. Sammy spent over three hours in the pool today and couldn't have been happier about it. Jack swam for a bit, then he came back to the room to nap, while I enjoyed the pool with Sammy. Seeing the extended forecast for Iowa made me appreciate the sun and warmth a little bit more today. Haha.
We got cleaned up again, but this time we were heading to dinner at 1900 Park Fare, located at the Grand Floridian. This restaurant recently reopened following an extended closure from the covid shutdown. To get to this restaurant, we took a resort bus to Magic Kingdom, and then rode the monorail to the Grand Floridian.
We took in the sights of the fabulous gingerbread house in the lobby before heading to the restaurant.
The characters at this restaurant were Cinderella, Princess Tiana, Mirabel, and Snow White. Aladdin was one of the advertised characters that sometimes appear at this restaurant, but he wasn't there tonight. Sammy had met Aladdin in the parks, so he wasn't too terribly disappointed.
The food here was delicious! It was buffet style, and the allergy chef was excited to tell us that Jack was able to have lots from the buffet. He offered to steam up some vegetables for Jack to have, and told us to let us know if there was anything else he could make for him. I'm going to miss this incredible service when we head back home. 😉
Jack did not love Mirabel, but he LOVED Snow White. She played peek-a-boo with him using her skirt. Sammy asked Snow White, "what is your favorite kind of pie?" She told him that is was gooseberry - because it was Grumpy's favorite. So precious!
After an outrageous line at a bus stop, we made it back to our resort, and both boys were asleep by 8:30PM - success!
Tomorrow we are off to Animal Kingdom. 😊
