Disney World: Day 4 Recap

Today was SUCH a fun day! Today we went to Hollywood Studios (formerly known as MGM) and had the very best time. Here's the recap. 😊

Last night we told Sammy to try his best to sleep in, as we didn't have any early lightning lane reservations booked. Well, both boys were up by 6:15, so we decided to start our day early.

We got showered, cleaned up and organized, and were walking into Hollywood Studios right around 9:00AM. Of all of the parks, Hollywood Studios is the Disney park that we are the least familiar with. We had some great things booked and were excited to meet the most of our day.

The boys started out with "Star Wars: The Adventure Continues." It was a virtual experience that simulated flight with all of the Star Wars characters. Sammy did not enjoy this ride, so we decided to skip rider swap. While Sammy and Dustin did this experience...

I took Jack to meet Daisy. He was SO EXCITED! He did not want to stand right next to Daisy but he loved blowing her kisses and touching her hands. So precious!

We met back up with Sammy and Dustin and stumbled directly into a meet and greet opportunity with Olaf. There was about a 15 minute wait, and both boys were excited to meet him. 😊

We decided that Hollywood Studios is the best place to meet characters. We met so many today!

Something that makes character meet and greets super fun with Sammy is to come up with a question to ask them, or something sweet to say to them. When he saw Joy he said, "I'm filled with joy to meet you." Joy loved that and gave Sammy some extra time in their meet and greet. 😉

Then, we went into the "For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration." It was re-themed for the holidays and we loved it so much! We were some of the very last people to come into the auditorium, but we ended up being in one of the very front rows.

Then we went to the "Disney Junior Dance Party." This experience is totally designed for younger guests. There is no seating, the parents just find a spot on the floor to sit while the kids dance around them. Lots of Disney Junior characters were there, and if I had to predict, I'd guess this is where Bingo and Bluey will end up when they begin appearing in Disney parks in the next year or so.

Next up was lunch at Rodeo Round-Up BBQ. This restaurant is located in Toy Story Land where you are "shrunk" down to the size of a toy. The theming here is incredible! The food at this restaurant was BBQ inspired, and Dustin would say it was his favorite meal so far of the trip. We had another amazing experience with the food allergy chef. She came to our table, had researched Jack's allergies, and specially made him food that he could safely eat. He was able to eat watermelon, cheddar biscuits, macaroni and cheese, and she grilled him a chicken breast. She asked if she could make him chocolate pudding for dessert and showed me the ingredients. It makes my so happy to see Jack enjoy food that he may not have been able to have without this safety measures. It's been a highlight of the trip so far!

I have also noticed that the allergy chefs take a special interest in the siblings at the table. I imagine that they are very aware that the siblings of children with allergies might feel "left out" from the special attention the child with allergies is getting at the restaurant. She brought Sammy out some special cookies and a napkin. She said "shhh, put these cookies in the napkin and take them back to your hotel to eat them later!" Sammy was happy to oblige.

From this point, we rode "Toy Story Mania" and "Slinky Dog Dash" before meeting a few more characters and heading back to the resort. Just as we got back to the resort there was a Florida rainstorm - torrential downpour for about an hour. We killed time in the food court and the gift shop where...

Sammy found this sign attached to a photo of Nala! The sign said,"when you spot the Nala photo prop, go to the front lobby." Sammy took a photo with it and headed to the front lobby where he got a fun souvenir button. So fun!

The rain stopped and we got changed into warmer clothes, fed the boys dinner, and decided to go back to Hollywood Studios. There was a 7:30 showing of "Fantasmic" and we were excited to (hopefully!) experience it.

Thankfully the rain held off and we were able to enjoy this nighttime spectacular! It was truly amazing. A little scary in some parts, but we all really enjoyed it.

We finished our day with watching the Happily Ever After Fireworks all snuggled in our pajamas. The perfect ending to a great day!

Tomorrow is a rest day (PRAISE) and we are doing two character meals. Sammy is hopeful to get as much swimming in as possible!

Friday Favorites [5-3-2024]

Yay! It's Friday and it's the month of MAY! Both of those things are very good things in my book. Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  On Monday I shared that we had a busy weekend! My mom and I hosted a Bridal Shower for my sweet cousin Caitlin, and then our new niece and nephew were baptized on Sunday. It was a fun (but tiring) way to spend the weekend!  Jack especially loved all of the family time, and was happy to sneak in some giggles with Great Grandma before the shower began. 😉 We whipped up these  Burrito Bowls  for dinner one night this week, and it was a new favorite. It was such an easy meal that Dustin and I both loved!  It's May, which means that it's time for me to read "Charlotte's Web" to my class. I read it every year during the month of May! This book has seen much better years - I think it's time for a new copy. Haha.  The boys and I love to play in the basement...

Friday Favorites [9-6-2024]

I'm always happy to see Friday, but especially when the weather calls for... this gloriousness this weekend, I.Can't.Wait.!  I'm linking up with Andrea  and Erika  to share some favorites from our busy, short week!  These brothers get so excited to see each other everyday after school, it melts me! They were together at childcare last year, so it makes me think that they have to be missing each other this year.  Brother time is always a favorite of mine. 😊 The chicken street taco kit from Costco is a favorite as well! This time of year it's important to get dinner on the table quickly and I love that this kit involves minimal clean-up.  This little boy is determined to start walking. He's getting braver and braver by the day!  There's a new flag football player in town. 😉 Sammy started flag football this week and I can't wait to watch him in action this fall! This is his "tough face." Haha.  Sammy's lunches have been a favorite for sure....

Friday Favorites [8-9-2024]

It's Friday! I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from my week.  I don't even know HOW it happened, but this is my last official week of summer. Can you hear me crying from wherever you are? 😅 June passed slowly, but July and August flew. I know that I will blink and the upcoming week will be over.  We've just been over here trying to soak in all  that's left of summer. 😉 On August 6th, Dustin and I celebrated 8 years of marriage! We celebrated with our first date night in an entire calendar year.  With Jack's allergies and Dustin's crazy work schedule, we find it so hard to get out just the two of us. It's a goal of ours to make it a priority this year!  Sammy's Kindergarten backpack, lunchbox and thermos came and he couldn't have been more excited. We loaded up all of his supplies and he is ready. Me on the other hand? I need someone to come over here and hold me. Haha.  Smiley boys at the park are ...
