Sammy is SIX!

Today, we woke up with a six year old in the house. We can't believe that our squishy little baby can be this old!

This year has been a year of tremendous growth (literally) for our boy. It seems that he's been in a growth spurt for the last several months. He skipped two clothing sizes and we can never keep him full. I'm certain our grocery bill will only increase as he ages. 😉

He started Kindergarten this fall, and is learning so much each day. When you ask him his favorite part of school, he says "recess." He is starting to blend words together and often asks to play teacher at home. He loves to show us what he is learning.

Sammy played tball, soccer and football this year. He loves to be active and play outside. For his birthday, his entire family got him an in-ground basketball hoop, and I know we'll get lots of use out of it!

Sammy loves to go fishing with his daddy. This summer he'd say, "hey dad, can we go get my line wet?" I think he loves the special  snacks and 1:1 time with Dustin just as much as he loves the fishing. Haha.

Sammy is incredibly generous, and is always willing to share with his brother. He is Jack's biggest cheerleader, and gets so excited when he accomplishes new things. He'll say, "Mommy, did you see what he just did?!" Jack admires Sammy so much, and we are proud of their friendship.

He is friendly and outgoing. His favorite part of mass is giving the Sign of Peace to those around him. He has no hesitation in going up to a parishioner and offering his hand for a handshake! Sammy tells workers at stores to "have a nice day," and tells others on our walking path to "enjoy the weather." I'm not sure what career path he'll have as an adult, but if I had to guess, it would be one working with people. 😉

Each night I pray that Sammy will never lose his sense of joy, and that he will continue to spread his light to others. We are so excited to celebrate him today!

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...
