Anniversary + Kindergarten ready

Happy Wednesday! Yesterday, Dustin and I celebrated our 8th year of marriage. In some ways, our wedding feels like it was just yesterday. In other ways, so many BIG life events have happened between August 6th, 2016 and August 6th, 2024 that it seems like a lifetime ago. While planning our wedding, I remember thinking about how this was going to be the most important day of our lives. And in lots of ways, it stands as a huge day in our lives. But when I think back on our marriage (so far!) the births of our boys are among some of my favorite days together.

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner a few towns over. We hadn't had a date in an ENTIRE calendar year, and we're hoping to improve on this in the coming year. With Jack's allergies, we have a really hard time leaving him. But - it's a goal of ours to be more cognizant of getting out together, just the two of us.

Another exciting event was the arrival of Sammy's backpack and lunchbox in the mail. We loaded up his supplies, and boy - he is ready. I'm so nervous for him to begin kindergarten, and for a multitude of reasons. But he is so excited and that helps me to feel a bit better. As he loaded up his glue sticks in his supply box he said, "good thing I have so many glue sticks. I can share with my friends if they don't have any." When I say I lost it, I lost it. So proud of my sweet boy!

That's all for today, friends. See you tomorrow! XX

Friday Favorites [7-3-2026]

It's Friday, and it's the 4th of July Eve! Sounds pretty good to me. 😉 I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  I'm dipping my toe back into blog world because, well, I am missing documenting my kids' childhoods. It brings me such joy to go back and read through memories from years before documented in old posts, so I'm determined to hang out here a bit more consistently to share life.  This summer, I've got a seven (7?!) year old and a new 3 year old. Someone the other day was talking about what a difference a year makes from summer to summer and it is so true. For example, this year Jack and Sammy love to go play together. Last year, both boys required constant supervision. Last year Jack hated going to the pool, and this year he is a little fish! This is a BIG favorite for me! Last weekend Sammy participated in a "Run Hit Pitch" competition and won first place for hitting in his age division. He was so ...

Sammy is SEVEN!

Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...
