Friday Favorites [3-15-2024]

Happy Friday! I CAN'T BELIEVE Spring Break is over! Spring Break landed early this year, but I know that summer break will be here before we know it.

I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some favorites from the week. Here we go!

Quite honestly, this has been one of the BEST parts about Spring Break. Dustin has been off this week so we've been letting the kids be our alarm clock. 😉 We've been taking turns sleeping in (and by sleeping in, I mean like 7:30AM haha) so we've gotten some really nice rest this week. You don't realize how tired and run down you are until you get a chance to get some good sleep!

Our highlight from the week was our trip on Wednesday to the Omaha Zoo. We left on Wednesday morning, and it took a little over two hours to get there. We just did a day trip and it was a full day!

We loved seeing all of the animals.

Sammy loved the aquarium the best.

And Jack loved the penguins. He would track them with his eyes and kick his legs with excitement!

The Omaha Zoo was super family friendly, and totally designed for kids to enjoy. Some of the theming was reminiscient of Animal Kingdom at Disney World, and it made us a little homesick for our next Disney trip. Haha. A highlight from the trip was also a stop at Sonic on the way home. I had a "dirty" Diet Dr. Pepper and my life has been changed. Why was it so delicious?! 😅

I picked up a little "Leprechaun Trap" at Party City, and Sammy was so excited to put it together! He can't wait for green pancakes on Sunday morning.

Sammy and Dustin went fishing this week and Sammy finally caught his first fish of the season. He caught some "blue gails" and was so happy to send me some pictures.

Another favorite from the week was this Hawaiian Chicken. We grilled up chicken, peppers, red onion, and added in some pineapple. Then we topped with a homemade sweet-sour sauce and served it up over rice. It was so good!

New Little Sleepies PJS + an ice cream cone are one of the best things in life. 😉 Our small town ice cream shop is open for the season and I'm embarrassed to share how many times we've been so far!

This avocado-face is always a favorite of mine. Sammy said, "his face and his outfit match!"  Haha.

Overall it was a great week at home with my people. Spring Break always makes me SO READY for summer...time to start the countdown. 😉 Happy weekend!

  3. Oh yes, sleeping in is an amazing feeling (and yeah, 7:30 is about the latest we go in this family too... and I have teens!). We went to the Omaha zoo a few years ago on our way through the state and we loved it. It was such a fabulous zoo and it reminded me a bit of animal kingdom at WDW.

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
