Morning Routine 4:00AM-7:00AM

It's Thursday! I love to read posts sharing fun, interesting details of other's lives, so today I'm doing some of the same. Today, I'm talking about my morning routine. There are days when I get to school at 7:29 and feel as if I've already lived a day. Haha! Can anyone else relate?

In order to have a smooth day, I try really hard to do a few things each evening. They are...

  1. Empty the dishwasher. Nobody likes to do that in the morning. 😅
  2. Make sure the washing machine is empty.
  3. Pack my breast pump and pump parts for school.
  4. Pack my lunch.
  5. Lay out my workout clothes.
These jobs are tedious to do at night, but I can totally tell the difference in my morning if I don't get them accomplished! Something that makes my mornings interesting is that my husband works the overnight shift as a police officer. That means that I have to be really on my A-game in the category of organization.

My alarm for the day goes off at 4:10, and at that point Baby Jack is usually stirring and getting ready to eat. I nurse him, transfer him to his crib, and then get dressed in my workout clothes.

By 4:35 I'm on my Peloton bike, and ready for a workout. Each night while Jack is nursing before bed, I try to take a few minutes to "stack" my Peloton classes. I downloaded the Peloton app on my phone and can decide in advance what classes I'm going to take. I typically try to do a 20 minute bike class, a 20 minute strength class, and a 10 minute stretch. I workout 4 week days a week, and on the weekends I do a longer bike/strength workout. On this day I did a 20 minute 80s Pop Class with Ally Love, a 20 minute upper body strength with Callie, 5 minute core strength with Callie, and a 10 minute stretch.

Roo, my sidekick accompanies me on my workouts most mornings. 😉

After my workout I am FAMISHED, so I head upstairs to eat. Most mornings I have an egg frittata and a chicken sausage patty from Trader Joe's. I always, always have a form of caffeine. Sometimes it's a Diet Pepsi, most days it's coffee.

While I eat I typically try to take five minutes for a little quiet time. Sometimes this is cut short due to waking kids, but I try really hard to squeeze it in. This book has been great - there's a few verses to study, and some room for reflections and prayers.

I try to hop in the shower by 5:45 (hair wash days) or 6:00 (dry shampoo days) and get myself ready before the boys wake up. Once they're up it's a flurry of activity!

Sammy gets himself dressed and ready for the day while I nurse baby Jack once more.

He'll have a quick breakfast while I pack up the car...

And by 7:00, we're out the door!

Woof. Mornings are exhausting, and I'm usually on my second cup of caffeine by the time I sit down at my desk in the morning. What tricks do you have for getting out the door in the morning?! I'd love to hear them.

That's all for today - Happy Friday Eve!

Friday Favorites [7-3-2026]

It's Friday, and it's the 4th of July Eve! Sounds pretty good to me. 😉 I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  I'm dipping my toe back into blog world because, well, I am missing documenting my kids' childhoods. It brings me such joy to go back and read through memories from years before documented in old posts, so I'm determined to hang out here a bit more consistently to share life.  This summer, I've got a seven (7?!) year old and a new 3 year old. Someone the other day was talking about what a difference a year makes from summer to summer and it is so true. For example, this year Jack and Sammy love to go play together. Last year, both boys required constant supervision. Last year Jack hated going to the pool, and this year he is a little fish! This is a BIG favorite for me! Last weekend Sammy participated in a "Run Hit Pitch" competition and won first place for hitting in his age division. He was so ...

Sammy is SEVEN!

Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...
