If you have been assigned "rolls" for Thanksgiving dinner, you need not look any further than this recipe. This roll recipe is super forgiving and makes the yummiest, fluffiest rolls. It's super easy to double or triple, depending on your crowd size. They do require a lot of rising time, but I promise that's what makes them so delicious. If you have to omit a "rise" step, they will still turn out just fine. That's what makes this recipe so forgiving!
Fluffy Dinner Rolls
Serves: 12 Dinner Rolls Prep Time: 6+ hours
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup warm milk (I use skim, and microwave it for about a minute)
1 package of dry yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 stick butter, melted
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 cup flour, plus a little more if needed
Melted butter for topping
Directions:
- Place your warm milk in the mixing bowl of your stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about five minutes.
- Mix in butter, egg, and sugar until smooth.
- Add in flour, one cup at a time, along with 1 tsp of salt.
- When all flour is combined, transfer dough to a clean bowl, greased with a bit of melted butter. Cover it and place it in a warm space until the dough has doubled.
- After the dough has doubled, punch the dough down and cover again.
- Repeat this 2-3 times. It will make the rolls so fluffy!
- In a greased baking dish, place balls of dough with some room between them. Let rise again before baking, until the dough reaches the halfway point or above of your dish.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown.
- Immediately brush the tops with melted butter after removing from the oven.
- YUM!
