Friday Favorites 9-15-2023

It's Friday - hooray! As you're reading this, I'm probably shedding some tears as I get ready to go back to work after 15 GLORIOUS weeks off. Thankfully I go back on a Friday, so I only have to get through one day before the weekend. That was very strategically planned. 😉

I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some of my Friday favorites. Let's go!

Easy favorite: this weather! Fall seems to have arrived in Iowa, and I couldn't be more thrilled about it. It's the kind of weather where you need a jacket in the morning and evenings, but afternoons are warm. We'll gladly take it!

Sammy has been loving his return to preschool! Look at him writing his name so well - it's a super proud mama moment for me.

Tuesday was the PERFECT day for us to go to our favorite apple orchard. We had such a great day doing all the fall things! Both boys (and their parents) were exhausted by the time we got home. Haha!

Look at this cute bib! My grandma picked it up at a trip to Hobby Lobby and sent it to us with a note saying that she "couldn't resist." We just love her so much! I'm sure Jack will be sporting it this Sunday for football games.

This was a fun favorite for our family: Sammy is trying football camp this fall! He is such his father's son. They got home from camp and Sammy immediately grabbed a football from the garage so they could "practice" some more. This part of parenting brings my sports-loving husband a lot of joy.

Back to work meant a back to school haircut and color was in order for this mama. I had 3 inches cut off and love how breezy it feels! Jack is at the phase where he grabs ahold of anything he can get his hands on, so a big haircut was definitely needed.

Hamburger sliders were on the menu this week, and they are some of my favorites! It's a quick, kid-friendly dinner idea. Find the recipe here.

The dreaded re-siding of the house is complete - ALLELUIA! It was two very noisy days of work, but we are thrilled with the results. We plan to paint our front door black to compliment our new black roof. I'm so glad this project is behind us!

I'll end on my very favorite: these two freshly bathed boys in the matching pajamas. I can't even handle the cuteness. Their pajamas are our favorite brand, Little Sleepies.

This weekend we have some housekeeping to do, and hopefully we'll spend some time outdoors to enjoy this beautiful weather. Be sure to check back in on Monday. I'll be sharing something fun! Have a great one! XX

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!

Disney World: Day 6 Recap

We're a little bit behind in posting, but today I'm sharing our day 6 recap to our Disney World trip! Today we went to...Animal Kingdom!  I love an Animal Kingdom park day following a rest day. Animal Kingdom has lots of opportunities for animal viewing, and the animals are most active during the morning. It's a great idea to start your day at Animal Kingdom early to maximize your animal viewing opportunities.  On this day we were up and on our way around 8:00. We had a lightning pass for the Nav'i River Journey beginning at 8:05. This ride is located in the Pandora section of the park and it is truly amazing. There are lots of floating mountains, water features, and fun details throughout. Although the boys had zero frame of reference about the movie, we enjoyed the ride and some breakfast before heading to... Festival of the Lion King! Truly - this show is worth the cost of your park admission alone. We loved the songs and the dances, and Sammy was thrilled with the f...

Disney World: Day 7 Recap

We woke up on January 1st ready for our last full day at Disney World!  The boys were a little slow moving this morning (who came blame them after 4 park days 😅) but we had a Lightning Lane booked at 8:05AM for Tiana's Bayou Adventure (formerly known as Splash Mountain). I sent Sammy and Dustin ahead to Magic Kingdom so Jack could have a slower start, and we met up with them in Fantasyland right around 9:30. We knew today was going to be a long park day. We were worried to leave for a rest in case the park reached capacity, and we wanted to make sure we stayed for fireworks!  We packed our morning with lots of rides and tried the new beignets. Sammy loved them! I also caught my favorite picture of the trip this morning. I was trying to take a cute picture of the boys, and Sammy's arm was around Jack's shoulders. At this exact moment... Jack took hold Sammy's finger and bit it. He didn't bite very hard, but hard enough to get this reaction from Sammy. 😂 It is somet...
