Friday Favorites 8-25-2023

Happy Friday! Today I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika to share some Friday Favorites from the week.

While last week was breezy and cool in Iowa, this week made up for it in heat. We were in an excessive heat warning almost the entire week which meant we could only really play outside in the morning. Sammy leaned into his creative side this week and we spent plenty of time coloring and drawing. His latest interest has been pirates, so he drew this picture of a treasure map. X marks the spot! ;)

The library has also been a favorite of ours during the heat wave this week. I love taking Sammy to story time at the library during the summer months. I tuck baby Jack in his wrap, and Sammy gets to enjoy story time, songs, and a little craft. It's the perfect outing! This Thursday, Dustin was on his "off days" so I was able to enjoy a solo outing with Sammy.

An easy favorite of mine this week would be this sweet smile. Jack has absolutely found his voice and tells us big stories all day long. :) We are on the brink of getting giggles from him, and
we're getting lots of happy coos!

Because it's been so hot out we haven't been firing up the grill as much for dinner. We had Poppyseed Chicken (recipe here) one evening for dinner and Pizza Burgers (recipe here) another evening. These dishes scream "back to school" to me and are staples from my childhood. Yummy, easy dinners are absolutely a favorite of mine!

I was influenced via Instagram to purchase this candle called "Farmhouse Fig." Modern Farmhouse Family, an account I follow, developed this scent to be a transitional scent to fall. I would agree, this scent is definitely that. It's fruity, but I would say it's also a warm, cozy scent. As of now it's sold out on the website, but it will be restocking soon!

This weekend I am going to *finally* decorate for Fall, and hope that it manifests some cooler weather in the near future! Have a great one!

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
