Things I want to remember...
I'm finding it very difficult to believe that the month of June is very nearly over. It has gone by so quickly! We've settled into a rhythm over here, and I wanted to take some time to write down some things about both of my boys that I know I will want to remember. Starting with...
Sammy-isms
So many people told me that once I had Jackson, Sammy was going to seem so grown up, and it is very true! He's full of funny one-liners that make me bust out laughing many times a day. Here are some of my favorite things he says:
"Bessert" = dessert
"Froap" = throat
"I'm not interesting in that" = I'm not interested in that
"You're breaking my feelings" = something he says if he doesn't like my response to his requests
Newborn Fuzz
Jackson is covered with newborn peach fuzz on his arms, legs, and cheeks. This is something I really don't remember from Sammy as a newborn! I'm not sure if it is because I had Sammy during the cooler months, and so he wasn't ever dressed in short sleeves, or if I didn't ever notice it. It's a sweet detail about newborn Jackson I don't want to forget. :)
Sammy Swimming
Shortly after we had Jackson we got a larger than a kiddie/smaller than a real pool, pool for the backyard. Sammy absolutely LOVES it. He is getting quite the suntan and would like to swim in it daily. His very favorite thing to do is to belly flop in the pool. The bonus of a pool is that it makes him SO TIRED, and he is always ready to go to bed at the end of the day.
Jackson's Sleep
I'm almost scared writing the words will jinx it, but my-oh-my, Jackson is an excellent sleeper. Right now we spend most of our evening with him cluster feeding and me sitting on the couch. I put Sammy down for bed between 7:30/8, and then I get Jackson ready for bed. After his final nursing session around 9:00, he will sleep until 1/2. Then, he nurses again and wakes up around 4/5. I truly think he would sleep in even later after that second waking, but Sammy typically comes in around 6 and is very excited to wake Jackson up. Jackson always looks at Sammy like, "Really?! I was not done sleeping yet."
His daytime sleep is pretty great as well. He would much rather sleep snuggled on my chest (and I would prefer it, too :) ), but I try to set him down throughout the day to practice some independent sleep. We are going to try a nap in his crib this week - we'll see how that goes. :)
Sammy & his scooter
Sammy is a menace on his scooter! We go for a walk in the neighborhood about once a day. Sammy rides his scooter, while I wear Jackson in my baby wrap. Seeing him zip around on his scooter is frightening and exciting at the same time. :) Sammy always stops anytime he sees a flower and sweetly picks it for me. By the time we get home I am holding onto a fistful of dandelions!
Milk Drunk Jackson
One of the funniest parts of the newborn phase is when sweet babies get "milk drunk." :) This happens to Jackson so many times throughout the day! He will fall asleep while nursing and the milk will just trickle out of his mouth. It makes me laugh every time!
I'm hopeful in the next month I feel brave enough to venture out more with the boys, and am able to slowly reintroduce exercise to my routine. I miss riding my ridiculous Peloton more than I should admit. :) As a teacher, July always feels like the "Saturday" night of summer and August feels like the "Sunday" night of summer. I feel so thankful to still have 2 full months off (plus half of September!) with my boys!
