30 Week Pregnancy Update

30 Week Pregnancy Update

I can't believe that I've already reached by thirtieth week of pregnancy! This pregnancy has truly flown by. It's hard to believe that in two months we will be snuggling a new baby! At my 28 week appointment we scheduled my c-section for June 14th at 1:30PM. I really hoping that time will get bumped up so I don't have to wait at home in anticipation that morning.

Nesting

The last few months have been filled with lots of nesting projects and lists. The baby's nursery is just about finished! We need to hang up some wall art, and my dad is making some bookshelves for the wall. Once those things are finished the nursery will be complete.

Nursing/Diaper baskets are prepped and placed around the house. They are filled with diapers, wipes, ointment, breast pads - all the things. :) These were so nice to have during postpartum with Sammy so I didn't have to go up and down the stairs for every diaper change.

Dustin has remodeled the main floor powder bath with a board-and-batten wall and new matte-black fixtures. It looks so much more modern! He also will paint the main floor and add some new window treatments to update the space.

Our carpets will get cleaned in May, and once I make some freezer meals and lactation cookies, we will be all set to welcome this baby home. :)

Stats & Symptoms

At my 30 week appointment I was measuring exactly 30 weeks, and everything else was within range. I've gained far less weight this pregnancy compared to Sammy's pregnancy which is a good thing - this time I know how much hard work it is to take the weight off. :)

Once I hit that third trimester, it was like a switch flipped and all of a sudden - everything hurt. This baby has been sitting head up and causing tons of pain in my right ribs. It hurts pretty badly by the end of the day, and the only thing that seems to help is going to sleep. I've been getting my back and pelvis adjusted at a chiropractor and that definitely seems to give the baby more room to wiggle around.

Besides rib cage pain, I've been dealing with the other glamorous pregnancy symptoms of the third trimester: trouble sleeping, acid reflux, leaking colostrum, and foot pain. I keep telling myself that this is temporary and will soon be forgotten once that baby comes out!

Cravings

A contributing factor to my lack of weight gain this time around may or may not be due to the fact that this time I'm craving fresh fruit (specifically watermelon) and when I was pregnant with Sammy I wanted all the donuts and chocolate milk - haha! I seem to run out of room quickly during meal times so I find myself snacking more frequently throughout the day.

Still Need to...

I still need to pack my hospital bag and finish a few more projects around the house. Dustin is needing to give our vehicles a really good clean before installing the infant car seat bases. This week I scheduled myself a final haircut, color, and prenatal massage two weeks before my c-section date. I'm looking forward to a day of pampering!

At school I've been prepping stuff for my long-term sub in the fall. I'm hoping to have my classroom pretty much ready for the first day of school before I leave for the summer. My long-term sub is currently filling a maternity leave for my friend in my same grade level and so she will finish the year in first grade and start next year in first grade! It should hopefully feel pretty seamless. :)

Looking forward to...

We have an appointment scheduled for a 5D ultrasound in about a month and I can't wait! I am looking forward to seeing his face and how much bigger he has gotten.

I'm really looking forward to summer and spending time at home with the boys without the demands of work. During my maternity leave with Sammy I had a really difficult time "unplugging" from work at the beginning. This time, work will be completely off the table so I'm hoping I'll be able to settle in to maternity leave a little easier.

I know it will be an adjustment going from having one child to two children, but I know we'll find a rhythm. Sammy really loves babies, and I think he will be very excited to meet his new brother. I'm anticipating that the hardest part for Sammy will be sharing mommy. I'm certain there will be growing pains but hopefully we will adjust and get through it. I think this little one will be our final piece to the puzzle, and I'm looking forward to soaking it all in! I'm also excited to be a second-time mama, as I anticipate a new sense of confidence will come with.

We can't wait to meet you, baby boy!

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...
