Disney World Part 2

This blog post will cover part two of our Disney World trip, and share details from our day at Magic Kingdom. Our day at Magic Kingdom was truly one of my very favorite days in my life. Dustin and I love Disney so much, and it was so incredibly special to see Sammy experience the magic and joy himself.

Dustin and I decided to purchase the "Genie Plus" option for our day at Magic Kingdom. I think that MK is the park most friendly to young children. The rides are in close proximity to each other, and there are few rides that they can't ride. We wanted to maximize our time on the rides and decrease our time waiting in line, so we gladly paid the $15 per person fee to enjoy this add-on. I definitely recommend it!

We had had some breakfast items delivered to the resort via InstaCart, and so we ate a quick bite in our room and headed to the Magic Kingdom! We had to use the bus option this day to get to/from the parks and resort.

We got to MK before the park officially opened, so we could take a picture in front of the castle and catch the welcome show. Sammy thought this was so fun! Immediately after the welcome show we went to our first Genie Plus reservation at Dumbo. This was Sammy's favorite ride in April, so we knew we wanted to hit it. :)

Ahhh..."Home" for the Holidays!

Dumbo with our happy boy!

I've learned that a key to a happy child at Disney is plenty of snack breaks, opportunities for movement, and for parents to be flexible. Dustin and I go into each day with our goal to be to make the most of it, and adjust our plans as needed. We certainly made the most of this day!

Speaking of plenty of snack breaks, nutella waffles, anyone? This tasty treat can be found at Sleepy Holly near Frontier Land at Magic Kingdom.

My Disney-loving-husband sure knows how to navigate a crowd. :)

After our snack break, we hit several rides using the Genie Plus option, and settled in at Frontier Land to watch the "Once Upon a Christmastime" parade. This parade was phenomenal, and I was so excited that we got to catch it! The floats are scented with holiday scents, all of the characters are dressed in holiday attire, and the music is just so festive. It was AMAZING!

We rode "The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" in the morning. The ride que for this ride is such fun for little kids!

You can see by how red his cheeks were how hot the Florida sun was! Aside from being right in the sun, this was the perfect location to watch the parade.

We had lunch reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern, which was right across the street from the parade route. I have to say, this worked wonderfully. After sitting in the hot sun it was great to go into an air-conditioned restaurant.

While I don't have any pictures of our meal at Liberty Tree Tavern, let me say this: it was SO GOOD! Think traditional, Thanksgiving meal, and that's what we had. Salad, warm rolls, turkey, pot roast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and cranberry sauce. It absolutely hit the spot. I really wasn't expecting much from this meal, but we will absolutely eat here again!

After our meal, Dustin wanted to ride Splash Mountain, and Sammy needed a nap. We found a spot in the shade to wait for Dustin and Sammy took a great nap! I downloaded a white noise machine to my phone, and we attached a portable fan to his stroller. I think he slept for about 3 hours. He woke up and it was time to continue with the night!

Sammy and I hung out in Frontierland underneath this awning while Dustin rode Splash Mountain. I got to catch the afternoon "Once Upon a Christmastime" parade. It was just as great the second time around!

Dole Whips, anyone?

He LOVED the Tea Cups. It was one of his favorite rides that day!

We LOVE a Calvacade! We would get so excited every time our paths would cross with one.

Main Street at Christmastime is magical. There was "snow" falling, the lights were twinkling...it was absolutely incredible.

Fireworks and a Mickey Mouse cookie wrapped up our perfect day. I smile just thinking about it!

Friday Favorites [5-3-2024]

Yay! It's Friday and it's the month of MAY! Both of those things are very good things in my book. Today I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from the week.  On Monday I shared that we had a busy weekend! My mom and I hosted a Bridal Shower for my sweet cousin Caitlin, and then our new niece and nephew were baptized on Sunday. It was a fun (but tiring) way to spend the weekend!  Jack especially loved all of the family time, and was happy to sneak in some giggles with Great Grandma before the shower began. 😉 We whipped up these  Burrito Bowls  for dinner one night this week, and it was a new favorite. It was such an easy meal that Dustin and I both loved!  It's May, which means that it's time for me to read "Charlotte's Web" to my class. I read it every year during the month of May! This book has seen much better years - I think it's time for a new copy. Haha.  The boys and I love to play in the basement...

Friday Favorites [9-6-2024]

I'm always happy to see Friday, but especially when the weather calls for... this gloriousness this weekend, I.Can't.Wait.!  I'm linking up with Andrea  and Erika  to share some favorites from our busy, short week!  These brothers get so excited to see each other everyday after school, it melts me! They were together at childcare last year, so it makes me think that they have to be missing each other this year.  Brother time is always a favorite of mine. 😊 The chicken street taco kit from Costco is a favorite as well! This time of year it's important to get dinner on the table quickly and I love that this kit involves minimal clean-up.  This little boy is determined to start walking. He's getting braver and braver by the day!  There's a new flag football player in town. 😉 Sammy started flag football this week and I can't wait to watch him in action this fall! This is his "tough face." Haha.  Sammy's lunches have been a favorite for sure....

Friday Favorites [8-9-2024]

It's Friday! I'm linking up with  Andrea  and  Erika  to share some favorites from my week.  I don't even know HOW it happened, but this is my last official week of summer. Can you hear me crying from wherever you are? 😅 June passed slowly, but July and August flew. I know that I will blink and the upcoming week will be over.  We've just been over here trying to soak in all  that's left of summer. 😉 On August 6th, Dustin and I celebrated 8 years of marriage! We celebrated with our first date night in an entire calendar year.  With Jack's allergies and Dustin's crazy work schedule, we find it so hard to get out just the two of us. It's a goal of ours to make it a priority this year!  Sammy's Kindergarten backpack, lunchbox and thermos came and he couldn't have been more excited. We loaded up all of his supplies and he is ready. Me on the other hand? I need someone to come over here and hold me. Haha.  Smiley boys at the park are ...
