Jackson is THREE!

Jackson Nicholas is officially a THREE year old!

I'm not sure how that is even possible, because it really seems like yesterday he was this sweet and squishy baby.

Jackson is determined, inquisitive and silly. He loves his big brother (bubba) SO MUCH and idolizes pretty much everything he does. Jack sits through sporting events (most of the time) with a smile on his face and can't wait to tell Sammy "good job!" after his game.

He loves Jessie from Toy Story, & watching most Disney shows. Jack loves to be outside playing bubbles or "water play," and he LOVES a puzzle. He loves to sing and he can knows every word to "Opalite" by Taylor Swift, which is a proud mom moment. 😉 Jack is my late sleeper, and it is not uncommon for him to sleep until 8 on the weekends. He loves going to Amber's house and playing with his friends there.

In typical toddler fashion, he loves a chicken nugget. His favorite fruits are watermelon, grapes, and strawberries, but the only vegetable he eats is a cucumber. He likes his milk to be served in his "Bluey Milky" cup and loves to feed himself, unless he wants a "big bite."

This year we tackled potty training and also took on two oral food challenges at the allergist office. He passed his rice challenge in December and can now eat food like a french fry from Culver's or Chick Fil A, cheese pizza from Pizza Hut, and more variety in cereal and snack choices. Unfortunately he failed his oats challenge in January, and his allergist is in no hurry to retrial due how severe his reaction was. As Jack ages we try to explain why he can't eat certain foods. My hope and prayer is that his FPIES will be behind him before he enters school, but we want him to know how to advocate and ask for himself if food items are safe for him to eat.

Three seems BIG to me, but we can't wait to watch our boy grow. We celebrated him on Friday with a family party, and plan to celebrate him all day long today. We love you, Jackie!

Sammy is SEVEN!

Sammy is SEVEN! Seven years ago we were at the hospital, excited and nervous to meet our Samuel John.  Sammy was always a happy baby and toddler, and that's continued into childhood. He is so affable, friendly, and confident! He loves his family, he loves to play and he loves to be active. Games are his favorite, and he loves to "snuggle."  Since returning back to school, he's developed a huge love of reading! As a first grade teacher this WARMS my heart. He loves most books, but right now he favors graphic novels. He is the best big brother. Without us asking, he is so willing to help his brother. Just yesterday, Jack sneezed and Sammy ran to get him a wipe and then proceeded to wipe Jack's nose for him. If someone gets hurt he often hurries to see what's wrong and if he can help. He's a lot like Dustin in that he loves to have fun and be social. He's a lot like me in that he loves to make lists and know the when/how things are happening. He loves a...

Friday Favorites [10-4-2024]

Happy, HAPPY Friday!  I hate to even say it outloud, but Jack slept through the night two nights in a row this week. He's been getting so many teeth - all at the same time for about three weeks. This led to lots of broken nights of sleep for our boy. It is AMAZING how much better I feel getting a full night of sleep. Haha.  Needless to say, I'm feeling extra perky this Friday.  I'm linking up with Andrea  and  Erika  to share a few favorites from my week. 😊 Sammy's flag football team is the Chiefs, and so obviously his favorite dog supporter needed to get a matching outfit. Look at Sammy's red cheeks! We're ready for fall weather to arrive in full force over here. Haha.  This week was National Night Out in our town, and Dustin helped work it. I stopped by with the boys, and Jack was genuinely surprised to see so many people who looked like his daddy. He got so excited when he saw the first police car, but was disappointed his daddy wasn't inside. 😉 D...

What's Up Wednesday [September 2024]

And just like that...it's the last week of the month! Time for What's Up Wednesday with  Sheaffer  and  Shay .  What We're Eating this Week... Fall weather is officially upon us, so I'm craving warm, comforting meals. This week's menu is... Sunday - Meatloaf and green beans Monday - Chicken Pot Pie with a green salad Tuesday - "Smash Burger" tacos  Wednesday - BBQ Chicken bowls Thursday - Spaghetti  Friday - we're grilling up the Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar Chicken sausages...so good!  My boys have been eating a lot of pumpkin muffins this week. I had to make a second batch this evening because Sammy ate 5 (5!) in one day.  We're basically eating pumpkin in whatever we can these days, which is why I made these pumpkin sourdough discard bagels. A warm bagel + pumpkin cream cheese from Trader Joe's = a little slice of heaven. 😊 What I'm reminiscing about... As always...this time last year. Look how small and squishy Baby Jack was!  T...
