There is no tired like Disney tired. 😉
Today we conquered the Magic Kingdom! This park is probably our very favorite, and we were excited to start our day. Dustin and I *may* have been more excited than the boys, as we had to wake them both up this morning. Haha.
Today there was early entry to the park beginning at 7:30AM. Early Entry is an included offering for guests staying on Disney property. It's a great opportunity for guests to enjoy the park at reduced capacity - typically you're able to get a lot of rides done!
The resort buses typically begin running about 1 hour before the park opens, which means that we should have been at the bus stop at 6:30AM. While Dustin and I were ready to go, our boys weren't yet. and we boarded the bus at 7:07AM. We were still able to get quite a bit done after we made it through security. Somebody (Dustin) must have looked a little suspicious, and so he was selected for extra screening. Haha! Truly though - we are thankful Disney takes safety so seriously!
We walked directly into the welcome show and Jack was in disbelief that "Ninnie" was there, and REAL! Once the characters walked off stage he kept signing and saying "MA (more) Ninnie!" It was a great way to start our day.
Before we left our room, we had given the boys a little breakfast to hold them over until we got into the park. We were hoping to tackle a few rides before stopping for breakfast. Sammy decided he couldn't wait, so we stopped for waffles and quite literally inhaled them before heading to our first ride.
We rode "It's a Small World," "Under the Sea - The Journey of the Little Mermaid," "Dumbo" and "Barnstormer" as walk-ons. Amazing! Sammy was able to experience a fun perk today. When you have a sibling who isn't tall enough to ride an experience, the child who IS tall enough gets to ride it once with one adult, and then again with the other adult. Sammy reaped the benefits of this twice today - a highlight for him for sure!
The other rides we hit were..."The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh," "The Magic Carpets of Aladdin," "Pirates of the Caribbean" (my favorite!), "People Mover," and "Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor."
We also caught a showing of the "Once Upon a Christmastime" parade. WE LOVE THIS PARADE! It has floats with all of the characters, festive costumes and music, and the floats are scented. Seriously! They smell like pine, peppermint, and gingerbread. It's an amazing detail. I got this picture of Sammy after I caught him waving to Cinderella. Haha!
Sammy was particularly excited because he got a fist bump from "Tally" the elf. Tally is a character in the parade who has gone viral on social media this year. He is famous for checking the list and saying "NAUGHTY!" more often than not. 😉 Sammy immediately recognized him and screamed his name until he came over. SO FUN for our boy!
Both boys picked their "prizes" for the trip...
We ate lunch right after the parade at Liberty Tree Tavern and then...
Dustin was SUPER lucky and got to ride a new coaster, "Tron." If there's an experience Dustin or I really want to do that the kids can't do, we often divide and conquer. Dustin was SUPER lucky this time because the posted wait time was 80 minutes, and it actually ended up being 120 minutes start - finish. Jack was napping at this time in the stroller, so that was easy enough. Sammy and I killed time by eating ice cream...
picking another "prize"...
and meeting...Aladdin and Jasmine! Aladdin is one of Sammy's very favorite characters and he was so excited to see him. He said, "Aladdin, where is Abu?" Aladdin let Sammy know that the Genie was on Abu duty.
Jack woke up around 5PM Florida time and the boy was STARVING. This was a sad part of our day. We had packed safe foods for him to eat, and the allergy chef at Liberty Tree Tavern made him a special meal for lunch which was amazing! Jack decided he didn't want any of the safe foods that I packed, and so we went off to try to find him something. The closest Uncrustable was across the entire park, so we ran into Casey's Corner quickly. I was hopeful that he could have french fries from there. After waiting 20 minutes in line we found out they were battered in rice flour. Womp Womp. The allergy chef was very helpful and tried to give him something else, but poor Jack had seen the fries and was devastated he couldn't have them. They very kindly "pixie dusted" Sammy's meal for free for us (she obviously could tell that I wouldn't be able to reach my wallet even if I wanted to with a sad baby in my arms 😂), packaged it up to-go for Sammy and gave Jack a clementine in the meantime. This was a good enough distraction to stop his *Magical Meltdown* in its tracks, so we could get the heck out of there to meet Dustin.
At this point, we decided to quit while we were ahead and head back to the resort. We had dinner, took baths/showers, and got the boys to bed early. Tomorrow we head to EPCOT! Sammy is the most excited for this day...he can't wait to ride Ratatouille. And me? I'm looking forward to a grapefruit beer and bratwurst from Germany. 😊
