Yay for Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Our weekend was relaxing and productive, but heavy on the productive side. I'm sharing an exciting FPIES update on Jack!
At our appointment with Jack's allergist, we were given a "ladder" of high risk foods to introduce slowly. On the ladder was wheat, egg, and milk. We tackled wheat a little earlier on, and thankfully it was a pass. We like to trial high risk foods over a weekend, that way we're home in case he has a reaction. It can be a stressful time for all of us, while we wait and see how his tummy tolerates food.
I feel pretty good about saying that we tackled egg this past weekend! We've been working with a FABULOUS food allergist dietitian who has provided some non-traditional recipes for us to introduce these high risk foods. I made some muffins made from the "normal" muffin ingredients, except I used breastmilk, rather than butter or milk, to introduce egg this weekend.
Jack had 3 exposures with the muffins over Saturday and Sunday, and I think it's a pass! Eggs will open a lot of "doors" for us, food wise. I'm excited to add eggs to his safe list. 😊
Have a wonderful start to your week, see you back here tomorrow!
