Closing Time...

Hello, Tuesday.

Today I'm sharing the five things I like to do each night as far as "closing time" goes for the house. These are tasks I like to do each night to put the house to "bed" that help me start my mornings off on the right foot. On the nights that I don't do these things, I always find that my mornings the following day just aren't as smooth as they could have been.

Here we go...

#1 - Empty the dishwasher

I like to start the dishwasher as soon as dinner is cleaned up, so that by the time the boys are in bed, it's ready to be emptied. Nothing irritates me more in the morning than having to put away my noisy dishes, so it's always nice to go to bed knowing this is done.

#2 - Wipe off countertops

I always make sure my kitchen is neat and tidy before heading to bed. This means that all dinner dishes are cleaned and put away (see above 😉) and the countertops are cleared and wiped off.

#3 - Take out the trash

I like to make sure the trash is out of the kitchen and there's a clean liner in the bin. Nobody likes to be greeted with a stinky, full bag of trash in the morning

#4 - Clean up the toys and couches

All toys must be put away before the boys head up for bed, and I like to make sure all throw pillows are "fluffed" and blankets are folded as well. It's just a good feeling knowing that the main floor is straightened up before going to bed.

And lastly...

#5 - An empty washing machine

This one is a personal preference that may make you laugh. You know when your child wakes up in the middle of the night and vomits? Well, there's nothing worse than taking the soiled laundry/sheets to the washer only to find that there's clothes in the washing machine that haven't been ran yet, or that needs to be switched over to the dryer. We like to go to bed with the washing machine empty in case of any vomit incidences. 😉

I'd love to know...how do you put your house to "bed"?

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
