Life Lately...

Does anyone else love the month of January? I feel like January is a month where we settle in to a good routine after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I love the cozy nights at home and renewed energy following the New Year. Spring break is on the horizon, which means warmer days can't be too far behind. Here's a little bit of life lately at the Brisel household...

Sammy is growing and growing! To start the school year, I purchased him size 5 clothing. Boys are so easy to shop for...I just mix and match a whole lot of athletic gear. 😉 Well, all the clothes that were purchased are much too short in the leg. I need to go shopping for the next size up!

He keeps talking about kindergarten and can't wait to come to school with me each day. His main questions are: 1. What will I put in his lunch box? and 2. Who will his friends be? I'm looking forward to our days in the same building next year.

Sammy also started a little basketball camp last night! It is four weeks long, and just once a week. I think it will be a great chance for him to get some energy out and learn some new skills. He really enjoys anything athletic, so I'm excited to see how he does.

Jack is WAY too busy these days. He is really moving all over the place! He can do an "inch worm" crawl and is starting to figure out army crawling. His main motivation at the moment would be...Sammy's toys. Sammy's cars and trucks are much more interesting than those boring baby toys. 😉 I'm certain I will hear Sammy say, "Mom, Jack is getting my toys!" often in the future.

Eating has been hit or miss lately. He doesn't love purees, so we've been attempting the "Baby Led Weaning" thing. Unfortunately that makes me super nervous! So far we've attempted strawberries, broccoli, banana and avocado. We'll get there!

I feel like he's also hit a growth spurt lately. He feels a little bit heavier in my arms, and is starting to be able to be carried on my hip without needing support. This is a milestone that not a lot of people talk about!

Dustin is back in the routine of working day shift (YAY!) and I'm *trying* to get back in the routine after 5 snow days within the last 2 weeks. Life lately is pretty good over here. 😊

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
