Sammy John Update

Sammy John Update - Summer 2023

I always enjoy my summers off with Sammy, and this summer has been no different. He and I have been spending our days together since May 31st and it has been really lovely. With all of the blog posts about Mr. Jack, I figured it was only fair to write one about Sammy John, too.

This summer he seems to be going through a huge growth spurt. He will eat anything and everything in the kitchen. Immediately following a meal he goes to the pantry, opens the drawer and looks for a "yittle snack." His favorite things to eat right now are: tortillas with cheese (think quesadillas), chocolate donuts, cheese sticks, and berries. For dinner he really loves grilled meat and he will flex his muscles after eating to see if they have gotten any bigger. :) For years his food of choice while eating out was chicken nuggets, but he's recently switched to preferring hamburgers. He wants them to be totally plain, but then he likes to dip it in ketchup. I love seeing him try new things! If you ask him what his favorite restaurant is, he will respond "Goldies." It's one of my favorites too!

Sammy has really leaned into his role of "big brother." He is constantly kissing on baby Jack and loves to be involved with his care-taking. Since Jack is breastfed, Sammy has obviously been exposed to lots of feedings this summer. In an action of solidarity, Sammy will often pretend to "nurse" his stuffed animals. It's absolutely one of the funniest things I've ever seen. :)

Sammy participated in a soccer camp this summer at the YMCA and really enjoyed it. It was his first experience in an organized sport, and we learned that Sammy has a competitive spirit. Hmmm...wonder where he could have possibly gotten that from. ;) He will play soccer on a team this fall and I can't wait to watch!

I have really loved all my time home with the boys this summer. Sammy will start going to preschool 3x a week soon and I know he will be so excited to see his friends again! In the meantime I'll enjoy him at home with me.

The Brisel family is OFF!

I'm so excited to share that our family is celebrating the holiday season at our very favorite place...Disney World! This trip has been a long time coming. We have been saving and planning for over a year, and yesterday we [yes we...Santa doesn't get credit for this one 😉] surprised our boys with a trip to Disney World for their Christmas gift. Disney is truly Dustin and my happy place, so we couldn't be more excited to bring the boys!  While we're gone I plan to blog about our trip, so I'm hoping to share an update tomorrow evening. For some who may not know, I am working my way through the certification process of becoming a Smart Moms Travel Agent, which is a travel company that specializes in trips to Disney World. I'm hopeful that it might turn into a fun hobby that lets me share a little bit of my Disney knowledge with other families. 😊 I thought blogging our trip would be a fun resource to share with future clients! For a little recap of today... We wer...

Disney World: Day 5 Recap

Rest days are a necessity for any Disney vacation, no matter the length of your trip. 😉 We have been pushing it and hoofing it all over Disney World, so we were overdue! Our plans today included a character breakfast with Minnie and her friends, spending time at the pool, and a character dinner at 1900 Park Fare.  Both boys slept in until 7:00 which was amazing! We got dressed and ready and began our way towards Cape May Cafe located at The Beach Club Resort. We took the Skyliner from our resort to the International Gateway at Epcot. From there, we had about a 5 minute walk to our restaurant. Super easy!  This character meal is one of the lesser known options for character dining. We've done character dining at Topolino's Terrace (amazing!), Tusker House and Chef Mickey's, so we were excited to try something different. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy are all dressed in their beach attire, and make their way around the restaurant several times. You're also able to do a ...

Jackson Nicholas is TWO!

Jackson Nicholas is officially TWO years old today!  He's been so fun lately, and definitely showing off his two-ness. 😉 He's got a LOT to say.  He loves his big brother and wants to do anything and everything that he does.  He loves his family and talks about them all day long. He loves Mickey Mouse and can't wait for his next trip to the castle.  He loves to play outside! We'll be living in the backyard this summer.  He loves to EAT! This has been his biggest area of growth from this time last year. At his first birthday party, he was just able to eat single-ingredient foods due to his allergies - we just didn't know what was safe for him. Yesterday he was able to have a cupcake..with frosting!  Such a win!  We love him and his silly little personality. We can't wait to celebrate him today!
